We now run a dedicated hearing clinic at this surgery for all patients over 55 with a hearing loss. The clinic can supply NHS Digital Hearing Aid, if required.
Please ask reception to book you a hearing appointment.

Who is the hearing clinic for?
This dedicated clinic is for all patients over 55 who are concerned about their hearing.
What happens at the clinic?
The clinic has been set up so you can access NHS hearing care at this medical centre, without the need to go to the hospital. This service includes an initial hearing screening test so we can review your hearing and, if necessary offer you further advice regarding the provision of NHS digital hearing aids.
I am concerned about my hearing, what do I need to do next?
There are a number of steps to establish whether you have a hearing loss that can be assisted by wearing a hearing aid. The stages are outline below:
- Step 1 – Initial Hearing Screening
You will need to book an appointment for the hearing clinic via reception for an initial hearing screening. This appointment will only take ten to fifteen minutes of your time and we will then be able to identify how well you are hearing. - Step 2 – Discussion with your GP
If the results of the initial hearing screening indicate that you may not be hearing as well as you should be, then the next step is to book an appointment with your GP. At this appointment, your GP will discuss your hearing in more detail and check that there is no other condition, such as excessive ear wax, that may have had an impact on the results. Following this appointment, your GP will assess your needs and where appropriate will refer you back to us for a full hearing assessment.
If you are referred back to us, a further appointment will be made for you to attend the hearing clinic within your medical centre. - Step 3 – Full Hearing Assessment
Once referred by your GP, you can come back to the hearing clinic for a more comprehensive assessment with the Hearing Aid Audiologist. This appointment will take about 50 minutes.
Following the assessment, the Hearing Aid Audiologist will fit you with your NHS hearing aids (on the same day if possible), if required. They will also go through all the features and functions of your hearing aid with you and explain how wearing hearing aids will feel and what you can do to get the most benefit from them.
The hearing clinic will also provide you with ongoing aftercare and support when you need it.
